Choices and Challenges
Sometimes there are certain challenges that have the ability to entirely cripple your hopes and dreams, but does that make them worth it? Animals, plants and even fires follow the path of least resistance to get to where they need to go, where they can thrive and consume as much as they desire. So as humans facing challenges, are we on the wrong path when we take the road less traveled? The road less traveled can be dangerous - limbs that drop and hit you, roots and weeds to catch your ankles, and best of all - who knows what lies at the very end? It could be a cliff that dives down dramatically, leaving you to backtrack or perish, or perhaps just a big stinky murky bog that wants to suck you down. Certainly nothing close to the path of least resistance...
But what is life about if it's not about learning new ways to navigate through this. Perhaps at the bottom of that cliff in the canyon below lies gold and silver and treasures, but it's a leap of faith to get there. Or perhaps on just the other side of that dangerous bog is a glorious oasis. We can take the path of least resistance; keep the road less traveled to those crazy, less serious folks. But what is the point of playing on the safe side? What rewards does it bring in the end or even along the way?
Challenges are simply God's [or insert your own deity here] way of making the journey worth it. And I may stand corrected when I'm sinking deeper and deeper into the bog, clinging to a strand of ivy for support, but I'm on my way to the riches in the canyon. You?
